What Does It Actually Cost to Fix KDSS Geometry After a Lift?
People ask me what it costs to fix their KDSS geometry after a lift, and most of the time they are bracing for a number in the thousands. It is usually not that. Below is every part I make, what it actually costs, and which ones your truck genuinely needs versus which ones are optional. I am Dom, I machine these parts myself, so these are real prices off my own store, not estimates.
What does it cost to correct KDSS geometry after a lift?
For most lifted 4Runners and GX460s, the realistic range is $220 to about $600 depending on how far you lifted and how hard you actually wheel the truck. Here is the full price list so you can build your own number:
- B.O.T.C.K. bolt on track bar correction kit: $220. Fits 4th and 5th Gen 4Runner, GX460, GX470, FJ Cruiser, Prado 150.
- B.O.T.C.K. for Gen 3 4Runner and Prado 90: $200.
- Dr. KDSS Track Bar: $430. Fully adjustable billet replacement bar.
- Front KDSS billet link: $200.
- KDSS front sway bar end adapters: $200.
- KDSS bushing bracket: $89 to $95.
- Front KDSS sway bar billet clamps, pair: $75 to $80.
- Rear KDSS sway bar billet clamps: $75 to $80.
- KDSS Rear Sway Bar Drop Kit with upgraded billet fixed link: $180 to $250.
Blemished versions of several kits run about $10 less. Same part, same machining, minor cosmetic marks.
Which part do I actually need first?
Buy the track bar correction kit first, because axle centering is the problem you feel every time you drive. At $220 it is the single part that takes a lifted truck from feeling loose and wandering to tracking straight again. Everything else on my list improves articulation, protects components, or extends bushing life. Those matter, but they are refinements. The correction kit fixes the thing that is actually bothering you.
If you are only spending money once, spend it there. I would rather you buy one part that solves your complaint than four parts that spread your budget across problems you do not have yet.
What does a realistic build cost by lift height?
It scales with how far you went up, because the geometry problems compound with height. These are the combinations I actually recommend:
Around 2 inches of lift, roughly $220 to $300. Track bar correction kit at $220. If your factory sway bar straps have already failed, add a pair of front billet clamps at $75 to $80. That is it. At this height the bushing angle is just starting to go bad and you can often leave it alone.
2 to 3 inches, roughly $400 to $520. Correction kit at $220, plus the bushing bracket at $89 to $95 to fix the front bushing angle, plus front clamps at $75 to $80. Bushing bind typically starts around the 2 inch mark, so this is where correcting the front becomes worth doing rather than optional.
3 inches or more, or extended travel shocks, roughly $600 and up. Correction kit, end adapters at $200 instead of drop spacers, bushing bracket, and clamps front and rear. If you are running long travel, the adapters go from nice to have to close to mandatory, because that is the setup that actually needs the extra droop the adapters free up.
Is the $430 track bar worth it over the $220 correction kit?
They solve the same problem two different ways, and most people should buy the correction kit. The B.O.T.C.K. keeps your factory track bar and relocates the mounting point to flatten the bar back out. The Dr. KDSS Track Bar replaces the bar entirely with an adjustable billet one.
The replacement bar makes sense if you want adjustability as your setup changes, if you are chasing weight, or if your factory bar is already damaged. It is a solid 1.25 inch 7075 billet bar with 7/8 inch Pro Bearing heims, and it runs roughly 40 percent lighter than the factory bar, which is about 7 pounds. If your stock bar is fine and you just want the geometry fixed, the $220 kit does that job.
What am I not selling you?
I do not sell lift kits, and I am not going to recommend one. My parts correct the geometry after you have installed a lift, whoever made it. If someone tells you a KDSS drop kit will fix or prevent KDSS lean, that is wrong. Lean comes from an imbalance in the hydraulic system, not from sway bar position or suspension geometry, and no bracket I sell will change that.
I also do not sell accumulators or KDSS hydraulic fluid. If your problem is genuinely in the hydraulic side of the system, buying brackets from me will not solve it, and I will tell you that rather than take your money.
What does shipping add to the total?
Nothing, if you are in the US. All US orders ship free. Most orders leave within 24 to 48 business hours, and a few of the made to order items take 48 to 72. International orders are calculated at checkout based on weight, dimensions, and destination, and duties and customs are set by your country and are the buyer's responsibility.
Frequently asked questions
Can I buy one part now and add more later?
Yes, and that is how most people do it. Start with the correction kit, drive it, and see what still bothers you. The parts are designed to work together but none of them require the others to function.
Do I need an alignment afterward?
Yes, get one after any track bar or suspension geometry change. You just moved where the axle sits, and an alignment is cheap insurance against uneven tire wear that costs a lot more than the alignment did.
Are the blemished parts actually different?
Only cosmetically. Same material, same machining, same tolerances, usually a mark in the anodizing or a small finish flaw. They save you about $10 and they perform identically. Details are in the components listings.
What if I buy the wrong thing?
Contact me before returning anything so I can approve it and send instructions. There is a 20 percent restocking fee with no exceptions, but I cover the return shipping label and parts must be unused and uninstalled. Measuring first and asking me questions costs nothing and avoids all of that.
Want a straight answer on your build?
Tell me your platform, your lift height, and whether you run extended travel shocks, and I will tell you the shortest parts list that solves your problem. Start with the B.O.T.C.K. correction kits, or read how KDSS works first if you want the background before you spend anything.
